Two. Get a shave and visit the dentist." so, yes. I found it offensive. I can understand the "get a shave" part as a joke, but telling me that I need to go see a dentist would only come from someone being nasty and, for our purposes, totally inappropriate.

I don't know if you noticed, but right in between our comments, there's another one (posted anonymously): "Are you so sure I was drunk??" March 19, 2012 7:22 AM

It doesn't seem to be the same person who offended me in the place... This person has made it very clear who she/he was, so I'll take as a joke for now...

More in Verona...

Cheers,
LALuiz Alberto, #wineloverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16176998729974487627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216097425984492529.post-84771671879117513942012-03-19T07:33:11.326-04:002012-03-19T07:33:11.326-04:00Oh my God, what the hell I've written above? ;...Oh my God, what the hell I've written above? ;)

Just want to say that if you read that tweet all alone, out of context, it is difficult for the reader to understand what it was referring to and, moreover, it is very difficult to assign the right prospective to the phrase.

Saying to someone to have a shave (or a shower or whatever) is not a rude injury per se, I suppose. The reader needs more details. Was it a tweet of you or was it a tweet you've received from someone else? Did you consider it rude to you or (if you were the person that wrote it) rude for others?

Hope it is more clear now ;)

Anyway, agree with the alert. Writing and tweeting under the effect of alchool might be very dangerous!

(not drunk at the moment) :D

Cheers, Fil.Filippo Roncohttp://www.vinix.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216097425984492529.post-68594574735732403212012-03-19T07:30:37.407-04:002012-03-19T07:30:37.407-04:00It was a picture of me Filippo. It is certainly related to some previous resentfulness against me... but this is all I will say...

That's why the "don't drink and post" is more relevant than anything else. It's very difficult to build a reputation for our community when there's people out there with no sense of responsibility with the things they say on Facebook and Twitter. As Angela Reddin said "what we write now is immediate and cannot be called back."

I look forward to seeing you at Vinitaly next week. We certainly can discuss this further, as I really value your opinion on anything that involves "wine + social media"

Cheers,
LALuiz Alberto, #wineloverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16176998729974487627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216097425984492529.post-60625726567485383272012-03-19T07:22:35.256-04:002012-03-19T07:22:35.256-04:00Are you so sure I was drunk??Are you so sure I was drunk??Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216097425984492529.post-16690101706116778562012-03-19T07:05:28.927-04:002012-03-19T07:05:28.927-04:00What was that tweet referred to?

I often regretted what I wrote and sometimes found that I didn't even really agree with my own comment! It's hard, but I'm succeeding over 50% of the time :)Fabio (Vinos Ambiz)http://vinosambiz.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216097425984492529.post-2591245616604844102012-03-17T06:59:39.203-04:002012-03-17T06:59:39.203-04:00Thanks for taking the time Darby.
You couldn'...Thanks for taking the time Darby.

You couldn't be more right. The age of instant gratification has its advantages, I don't deny it. But it has certainly its drawbacks as one clearly can see with "Yes, I have a thought. Two. Get a shave and visit the dentist." from someone I know. Saying stupid things ("hitting the button") and believing that by just deleting what was posted on a drunken moment is going to fix the problem is a huge "#fail". The damage is done!

And I agree with you also that the title is a misnomer. But I don't have a better idea (or title) because, as you said, the days of "write drunk, edit sober" are long gone...

Suggestions?

Cheers,
LALuiz Alberto, #wineloverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16176998729974487627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216097425984492529.post-51975061821216452952012-03-16T15:20:08.068-04:002012-03-16T15:20:08.068-04:00Good Post. I think it may have been Hemingway who said "write drunk, edit sober" Unfortunately these days the edit bit does not occur, we just hit the button and it is published.Darby from Vinodiversityhttp://www.vinodiversity.comnoreply@blogger.com
