One of the newest regions in Australia but wine making history goes all the way back to George Wyndham of Dalwood Estate fame in the Hunter Valley. It's a generally high altitude, cool-climate region with many vineyards over 900m and has Australia's highest altutude vineyard (approx 1300m). Not surprisingly Sauv Blanc, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo & Gewurz doing well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216097425984492529.post-25590329978247948652011-04-25T13:24:38.376-04:002011-04-25T13:24:38.376-04:00I would like to see Bourgogne in one of the future...I would like to see Bourgogne in one of the future quizz.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216097425984492529.post-6566240363341657402010-12-01T18:49:37.924-05:002010-12-01T18:49:37.924-05:00I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MUCH MORE FOCUS QUIZZES FROM T...I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MUCH MORE FOCUS QUIZZES FROM TIME TO TIME LIKE Puglia,
old vine zinfandels and where they come from, the new world on Rhone BLENDS & STYLES,BARREL TOASTING AND AGING,right bank merlots, food and wine pairing classics.WHY we drink big alcohol reds but hate omitting that we score them high, buy them and collect them. What is a cult wine, and how created them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216097425984492529.post-1477365837168312132010-12-01T10:31:17.080-05:002010-12-01T10:31:17.080-05:00The Dry Creek Valley. The Oltrepo' Pavese ( beyond the river Po) at one time, called "Antico Piemonte" (Old Piedmont), is an area blessed with a near-perfect balance between its geological make-up and the prevailing microclimatic conditions, rendering it ideal for vine cultivation.

Another important factor, that helps to explain why this area has been used for viticultural purposes since ancient times, is that it is situated at precisely the half-way between the North Pole and the Equator, right on the 45th Parallel. Let us remember that the area between the 40th and 50th Parallel of the northern hemisphere is the so-called 'wine belt'. All the pre-requisites and pre-conditions for producing wines of the highest quality are to be found here, on the lush and generous hills of the Oltrepo' Pavese.
Since antiquity, viticulture has been the protagonist in the history of this land; The Oltrepo' Pavese is an ocean of vineyards that covers the valley...

ask me for more info you won't be disappointed!lsj_italynoreply@blogger.com
