NEW YEAR'S has arrived and the MAJORITY of us have not purchased our CHAMPAGNE, yet, for New Year's Day.
We are Celebrating the New Year Holiday at our second home in the beautiful BERKSHIRES of western Massachusetts.
Snow is knee deep.
The ski slopes are packed.
Snowboards are everywhere.
Our backyard is adjacent to a Wildlife Refuge with over 2500 acres of open land.
Cross country skiers, hikers and snowshoers dominate the landscape.
Temperatures are above normal (45F) and the sun is shining.
Todayis New Year's and the most important decision of the day has to be made now.
What CHAMPAGNE to purchase for New Year's Day?
Like wine and beer, there are too many choices.
Should I purchase Champagne, Cava, Prosecco or Cremant?
New Year's comes once a year (that's not rocket science), so, why not buy CHAMPAGNE for this Holiday and save the other choices for lesser events. The major events, like Birthdays, Anniversary's, Valentine's Day and those really SPECIAL days should include Champage.
After reading all of the local advertisements, with prices for Champagne, NICOLAS FEUILLATTE stands out as the obvious choice for tonight's celebration.
For under $30 for a bottle of Nicolas Feuillatte BRUT NV, it is a no brainer.
For $42 a bottle, Nicolas Feuillatte ROSE, now the trend in Champagne, is a steal.
JEAN-PIERRE VINCENT has been the head winemaker for NICOLAS FEUILLATTE since 1976. Recently, Jean-Pierre talked about his Champagne making at Nicolas Feuillatte and said
" DURING THE BLENDING, I AM LOOKING FOR PURE EXPRESSION OF THE HOUSE STYLE, WHICH I DEFINE AS THE 'VINEYARD, SIMPLICITY AND TRUTH' ".
Nicolas Feuillatte Champagnes are rich, full of expression, lively and especially pure in their expressiveness.
NICOLAS FEUILLATTE says his Champagnes are "WINES with BUBBLES".
Critics agree.
Critics like ERIC ASIMOV, of the New York Times, agree that Nicolas Feuillatte BRUT NV is an excellent Value for French Champagne. It is light and delicate with a touch of sweetness followed by floral and citrus hints.
BRUT NV is made of 40% Pinot Noir for roundness, 40% of Pinot Meunier for fruitiness and 20% Chardonnay for elegance and finesse.
Nicolas Feuillatte's BRUT ROSE retails at $42 a 750ml bottle.
The BRUT ROSE has received 92 points from Wine Spectator and received a Gold Medal at the San Francisco International Wine Competition.
The BRUT ROSE explodes with thousands of small bubbles, usually a sign of well made Champagne. The salmon-copper-pink hue opens with a medly of concentrated fruit, highlighted by cherries, raspberries, strawberries, lemons and red currants. The long fruit finish has a touch of white pepper, which contibutes to this Rose's complexity.
The make-up of this BRUT ROSE is 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier and 10% Chardonnay.
I consider Nicolas Feuillatte BRUT ROSE, at $42 a bottle, 'BEST IN CLASS'.
TIME TO STOCK UP ON NICOLAS FEUILLATTE "BRUT NV and BRUT ROSE".
It is your BEST CHOICE for the NEW YEAR!!
