2011--A REMARKABLE YEAR FOR COGNAC by Philip S. Kampe

New figures issued by the BUREAU NATIONAL INTERPROFESSIONNEL du COGNAC show that the World's Most Celebrated AOC eau-du-vie confirmed that 2011 was an Outstanding growth year with a Record Setting 6.4% Growth in Sales and Volume over 2010.

Shipments of COGNAC exceeded the previous annual record by reaching 162.9 million bottles of pure alcohol.

Over 5 bottles of Cognac are sold around the world every second.

The rise in volume was accompanied by an increase in shipments of higher quality Cognacs. XO sales increased by 15.3%, while VSOP was up a modest 7.9%.

Total sales exceeded 2 Billion euros.

The FAR EAST represented 35.8% of the World Market. COGNAC'S growth in China to 22.6M bottles was an increase of 20.1%.

NAFTA accounted for 31.2% of the World's Market.

The U.S. is the largest Cognac Importer with 48.4M bottles in 2011.

EUROPE accounted for 28.8% of total Worldwide Sales.

The results Confirm Cognac's Positive Future.
