New TheWineHub Website

We know... It's taking a while... but we are re-building our website and I would love to hear what you consider the five most important sections on the site (out of the 16 we're proposing below):

1) Business to Business

2) Cool Stuff to Buy

3) European Appellations

4) Food and Wine Pairing (a quick lesson)

5) Food and Wine Pairing (pairing engine)

6) Glossary

7) Important Wine Events Worldwide

8) Most Important Grape Varieties

9) "Our Friends" (links to other sites)

10) Recipes

11) Tips for a Better Wine Experience

12) Trip Finder

13) Wallpapers

14) Wine Quizzes

15) "Wine & Health"

16) "Wineries & Estates"

Each one of these topics is a link to what we currently have at www.thewinehub.com , so you can have a better idea of what to expect from each one of them in the new site.

You opinion is very important to us. Thank you so much for your help!

Cheers,
TheWineHub team

Would be nice to create a unique platform on the website where everyone can share wine tasting, events & dinners worldwide! Like the calendar! With a obligatory logging system to keep tracking of all events & people posts!
You will be able to share only with professionnals or / and with individual people !
So even if you travel you can meet, taste & share a glass and improve your business or your knowledges!
Cheers :)
and could create a webapp with it so can be up to date about any wine stuffs all around the globe !!

And I also love this idea by Stacy Woods (posted on Facebook):
"1. Bring me to the wineries and winemakers that you visit/encounter by reporting on the who, what, and WHY history/philosophy/practices/future plans etc."
Thanks Stacy!

My choice would be:
1. Collection of interesting wine blogs
2. Wineries & estates
3. Important wine events
4. Our friends
5. Wine Quiz

My favourites are:

1.food-wine pairing (lessons)
2. food - wine paiiring (the engine)
3. tips for a better wine experience
4. wine & health
5. wine events

I find most of the texts very readable however I think hyou should work on the layouts - it's hard to read for example food and wine pairing lessons at once as it seems to be very loooong. Maybe use highlights, maybe some pictures to make the texts look more light.

Oh, and I like the idea of the tips for better wine experience!

Cheers,
Marta W

Food and Wine Pairing (pairing engine)- When people ask me what my favorite wine is, I always tell them whatever pairs with the food I am having and/or the friends I am drinking with. It could be a fun addition to add a personality & wine Pairing engine, lol.

Most Important Grape Varieties - Great, comprehensive yet concise, and handy for putting grape characteristics to memory.

Wine Quizzes - Always a great way to keep our vinous memory refreshed and adding new things to it.

Trip Finder - a great tool. I love to just imagine, input various options into the questions, and see what pops up :)

Tips for a Better Wine Experience - A much needed section for many a wine drinker to read. My suggestion would be to make it more bullet point style to it appears easier to read, digest, and remember? (Could be a neat addition in the future to convert these sections into video format, maybe even ask other wine bloggers to make/send in videos to put up in this section, I am sure you would get an awesome array of wine etiquette vids :) Maybe even a cool thing to see if wine etiquette type things change from culture to culture?

Hi Luiz,

I think winelovers with different backgrounds will be interested in different things. More recent winelovers will be interested in the food and wine pairing, etc.

I would like to see more of the following:
1. Important wine events worldwide, with updates on people who have gone, pics, etc.
2. Updates about your teams travel/trips to wine regions with info about vineyards, winemaking, interviews with winemakers, marketing managers (along what Stacy Woods mentioned).
3. Wineries and Estates (but with personal commentary, not as interesting when it's obviously advertising)
4. Wine Quizzes

Obviously, your site needs a way to make dollars, but buying stuff is the least interesting for me. I read your posts to learn new stuff, to share experiences and the love of wine, and to be excited by new discoveries.

Hope this helps.

ok wow, there is a lot of stuff on the site. ok i think since there is so much on the sides relating to other sites, followers etc you need tabs up front on top to relate directly to your different topics. also because in order to see what you have written about in the past you have to scroll down a bit before you see blog archive on the left. for example i might go to your site to look up 'european appellations' but if i dont see it at first glance im going to go to a different site. know what i mean? you have a lot of good cotent within that needs to have an index up front.

Hi Luiz!!! I try to answer something in a bit of hurry, sorry:) In my opinion it's not so much about which category of content is more important than the other but more about what is the "one big juicy idea" behind a service or a webpage. What sets it apart from the rest and what gives its existence a purpose that is self explanatory.

I'd choose one key idea and not worry about catering to different needs of different segments. Basically, not giving a damn of what different people think is important for them (because different opinions tend to rule each other out / create a mishmash chaos info if followed) and crafting an approach you find important. If it really is important, people will agree. So build and they will come approach:D

Personally I might be interested in "inside the trade" kind of content that doesn't appeal to big crowds and has interviews of journalists, wine makers, sommeliers, bloggers etc. Kind of a meta site for wine crowd. Opinions, some juicy gossip and information on upcoming events and that kind of crap. Of course this would not ne crowd pleasing page but it might be rich in relevance to a smaller group. High interest, limited crowd kind of thing.

All the best, AK

I met you and your site through the wine quizzes, they are a fun way to learn about wine. Im a food and wine pairing geek, so I visit those pages often. I like the trip finder and map because they are visual and direct. I like your cool stuff to buy, the wines and #winelover are reasons for the reader to be a repeat customer.
I find the wine blog to be a bit disconnected from the site; different feel. From doing some research on how people read websites and blogs, readers do get frustrated with drop down menus. and will not click though.

I only joined Wine Hub for the Wine quizzes, which have been kind of weird and erratic. Unless they get back to the way they were, you can take me off the list.

5) Food and Wine Pairing (pairing engine)

6) Glossary

10) Recipes

11) Tips for a Better Wine Experience

12) Trip Finder

These are more "hub" type of topics.

My 5 choices

Wine & Food
Grapes
Tips
Wineries & Estates
Our Friends (although I'd change this to something like "planning trips into wine countries of the world"

Congrats and good luck with all the developments. My reason for visiting your site is to keep up my wine knowledge. For this reason I would like to see more quizzes, some wine crosswords and some 'blank' wine maps of the various wine making regions in the world that we could use to test our wine region geography! I also enjoy your reports from wine regions.
Sorry my response is not in 'list form'!

Ok - took a quick look ...
My top picks are business to business and anything educational...wine regions, varietals etc.. An interesting section would be trip advisor in the major wine producing regions - sample Itineraries off the beaten path,,,who to contact and how. Practical information on this would be helpful as well.

Blog with personal wine experiences and wine friend of the day,,,etc..Aspiring Master of Wine blog (like on linked in). GL

I like you overall goal -- it is consistent with fb #winelover; some general wine education would be good as well. Not everyone travels as much as you do -- I would/and I think others would love some photos connected with a storyline of the wonderful wines around the world.

You overall strengths are that people like you and want to connect to what you have to share. I like how you bring people together. You use "positive"praise well and are good at dealing with issues that arise. One site that I visit there has been put-downs (I call that negative praise) -- people shy away -- it is like teacher yelling at a student! The strategy is to praise and ask for opinions. When people have a model they can respond. This education for wine bloggers.
